New iPhone Concept Has a Slightly Curved Back

Jsus is the same designer that showed us the Xperia Play 2 concept and some other very interesting designs. Now he’s back with an iPhone concept, that promises a revolution and uses a slightly curved back. Notice the big departure from the small rounded volume buttons on the iPhone 4S to the unified volume button here.

New iPhone Concept Has a Slightly Curved Back
The physical Home button is still here and I can’t say that this iPhone 5 design is shocking or game changing. What’s really a nice touch and interesting detail is the fact that the Apple logo here resembles the one for the WWDC 2012 invitation, hinting at a possible launch of the new iPhone there. From what I’ve heard at WWDC 2012 we will be seeing iOS 6.0 and some new MacBooks, but no new iPhone. Anyway, this new iPhone is certainly something that Apple would do, since it doesn’t stray from past design lines and it’s still pretty classy.
The only problem I have here is that the device seems a bit too thick, since it has a 3 layer design: the screen panel area, the metallic frame and the back cover, that seem to create a bulkier than usual iPhone. Anything special you’d like to change about it?
[Thanks Jsus]

Samsung Smartphone Concept Has Some Xperia and HTC One In It
Many people were disappointed by the Galaxy S III, but that doesn’t mean that Samsung can’t come up with some interesting designs. Or at least people can imagine they will… like Tolu Falope did, when he created the following Samsung concept smartphone, running Android 4.0 ICS and packing those trademark 3 capacitive buttons at the bottom.

The device looks like a combo between the design of a new generation of Sony Xperia phone and its back is very similar to the one of the HTC One X and One S. There’s also a very interesting browser in one of the pics and if I’m not mistaking I saw the real thing on teh ASUS Eee Slider tablet, as the standard web browser with those touch options. This is a very thin phone, with curved upper and lower edges, a plasticky look and metallic edges. I imagine it packs a quad core processor, 12 megapixel camera and 1080p display.
Also the diagonal should be around 4.7 inches or so, keeping with the modern smartphone standards. The device is certainly interesting and it would make a good new Nexus Phone, especially with the long body and bright display, plus original form factor (curved edges and very, very thin case). I wish this was the real Samsung Galaxy S III, to be honest. What do you think this handset is lacking and what do you want on it?

Since the Samsung Galaxy S III is turning up to be somewhat of a disappointment, we might as well start looking into the future and waiting for the next Google Nexus Phone. Bob Freking imagined that it will be made by Sony and it will combine the Xperia branding with the Nexus one. After all, Samsung combined the Galaxy series with the Nexus, right?

Sony Concept May be the Next Google Nexus Phone; Xperia Nexus?
Bob’s design takes some design cues from the Lumia 800 and especially textures and ceramic material are the focus here. If Sony does make this phone, we’re expected to see a Bravia RGB Reality HD display on board, enhanced audio technology (Walkman), a 13 megapixel camera with Cybershot technology and Exmor R sensor and a new type of CPU. That type would be the Nvidia Tegra 4, although it’s a bit early for that. I honestly don’t know why phone makers such as HTC or Pantech prefer the ceramic coating for their phones.
Is it because it’s pretty? More resilient? It sounds cool? I guess that Sony could go the same way, although lately they’ve been delivering handsets with quality cases, that at least include some parts of metal, unlike the Galaxy S III, that’s all plastic. Do you think that Google will select Sony to make the Nexus Phone 4? Or maybe they’ll go with Motorola since they bought it?

iPhone 6th Generation is a Liquidmetal Quad core Device

You may remember that some days ago we’ve shown you a liquidmetal quad core iPhone concept created by Antoine Brieux, well in fact only its metal frame. Now, the concept is back in finished form. Meet the iPhone 5 Liquidmetal unit, with a quad core Apple A6 chip and much more goodies detailed after the break.

iPhone 6th Generation is a Liquidmetal Quad core Device
The device uses a 4.5 inch widescreen display, a 10 megapixel camera and a virtual Home Button. There’s also an embedded SIM card and obviously the Liquidmetal case, that measures only 7.9 mm in thickness. When turned around in landscape mode, the phone’s virtual Home button is gone to make more room for video watching/gaming. I have to say that the format of this iPhone concept is very appealing, especially with the device having metallic edges and a shiny back that’s probably protected by either ceramics or liquidmetal as well.
This glossy phone is certainly the kind of evolution that Apple would offer us this fall, when the real iPhone 5 comes out. Not sure if the 8MP camera of the iPhone 4S needs any revamp, since it’s great just the way it is. This supposed iOS 6 unit would certainly be more sturdy than its predecessors, that’s for sure. What do you say? Do you want a metallic iPhone or some other material?

iPhone 5S Quad Core Phone Features Full HD Retina Display

It’s been a while since the last iPhone concept and here’s a fresh one by Hasan Kaymak. Meet the iPhone 5S, that features a quad core 1.5 GHz processor and a Full HD Retina Display. I guess that we’re at least one year away from 1080p phones, but if there’s anyone to debut that technology, then that’s Apple.

The iPhone 5S features a 2100 mAh battery, supports a wireless charging, Bluetooth 4.0 and iOS 6.0 as the software of choice. The device’s display diagonal is 4.5 inches and other features included are NFC, 4G LTE+ connectivity and Gorilla Glass 2 technology. The design is not something unexpected, to tell the truth: a slab of metal shaped in a rectangular form and looking a bit like a HTC meets an Xperia to me. There’s also a 12.1 megapixel iSight camera at the back, that I suppose will rule the cameraphone segment for years.
A quad core 1080p phone may happen towards the end of the year and it may come from Samsung, maybe HTC or maybe even Apple. I’m pretty sure they’ll move to quad core processing, but to 1080p not quite… Also, iPhone 5S makes me think about 2013 rather than 2012.

Bang & Olufsen Concept Phone Serenata II Runs Android 4.0, Is Seriously Rounded

I had no idea that Bang & Olufsen actually had a phone out there called Serenata and it seems that Deviantart user ibolzkurikato is unhappy with that model and wants to change it. He envisioned the Serenata II concept, running Android 4.0, packing 3 capacitive buttons below the screen and a very rounded format.

Bang & Olufsen Concept Phone Serenata II Runs Android 4.0, Is Seriously Rounded
The device is actually a rounded piece of material and underneath that there’s a smaller plaque that probably holds the camera and some serious audio technology from B & O. I like this design very much and if I’m not mistaking, it has transparent edges, that could offer some nice light effects like the new Xperia model announced at MWC. Anyway the phone seems pretty thin, so maybe it’s around 7 or 8mm thick. Add to that an 8 megapixel camera, 32GB of storage, some special music service, an ubercool equalizer and tremendous Bang & Olufsen speakers and you’ve got a hit.
We often see fashion phones here at Concept Phones, sometimes eco-friendly phones, other times handsets for people with impairments, but what about music phones? And I don’t mean those poor Walkman models from last year or the Beats Audio HTC units…

Seamless Flexible Display iPhone Concepts: Ace and Jocker

Today we’ve got two interesting iPhone concepts, that rely on the idea of a flexible display with seamless design. The two newcomers are iPhone Ace, the slider type smartphone below and the iPhone Jocker, that folds within the outer flexible screen. The designs belong to redskyline7.

Seamless Flexible Display iPhone Concepts: Ace and Jocker
Both models feature realistic specs and they used AMOLED flexible displays made of Graphene and offering good thermal conductivity. There’s also a solar panel on board, somehow attached to the display and powering the handset, for an extra of 30% electricity savings. The basic good thing about these designs is the lack of seam between the two areas of the screen, exactly where it folds. Having no specs published here, my mind wanders to an iPad Mini rather than an iPhone or better yet, a 5 inch Note-like iDevice.
The main case body of the folding device is made of aluminum and also works as a cooling fan. The display here looks very crisp and the idea is pretty interesting and original, but as usual with flexible displays, there’s the issue of fragility. I guess that there’s Samsung technology in the mix, since they’re at the top of the Super AMOLED display game, especially with the flexible technology in the mix. Will Apple ever get this approach?

Nintendo Android Phone Concept is a N-Gage Replacement

Even if the PSP Phone finally came true through the Xperia Play, people still want back the original gaming phone the N-Gage from Nokia. We saw an N-Gage 2 concept here and now the same designer, Davia Quijada (Amaqui) is back with a pretty similar unit, but one based on Android 4.0 and offering Nintendo games.

Nintendo Android Phone Concept is a N Gage Replacement
This Android 4.0 smarpthone seems very thin and has a sliding part with gaming controls. The screen is slightly tilted and it’s wide enough for a great gaming experience. At the back we have a 3D camera and the layout of the gaming keys and everything seems borrowed heavily from the Nintendo DS. One thing’s for sure: this thing looks better than the Xperia Play and if it has better specs, it’s a goldmine. Sadly, Nintendo will never agree to lend a hand to Google to developer such a phone.
However, recent rumors have mentioned that the Nintendo Wii U may end up being an Android tablet, so maybe there’s room for cooperation after all. Anyway, I’d like to know how many of you would prefer a next gen N-Gage over a new PSP Phone/Xperia Play 2?
