To achieve a better speed, the handset is installed with a 1GHz processor. It allows downloading thousands of applications from the Nokia Store on the Internet through the 3.5G connectivity. It also has 140MB ROM, with a music player, FM radio, connection to 3.5 mm earphones, Bluetooth and SIM card extension...

Comparing with the N9 which has a 3.9-inch panel, the Lumia 800's AMOLED screen is slightly smaller, measuring 3.7 inches diagonally. Its resolution is WVGA (800 x 480 pixels).

The latest 7.5 Mango OS from Microsoft supports the Chinese interface and the functions of pinyin input, copying and pasting. With its 1.4GHz processor, 512MB RAM and 16GB storage, the handset also supports 14.4 Mbps high-speed 3G network, WLAN 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth functions. The pre-installed map offers services of location inquiry and global navigation in over 100 countries.

The Lumia 800 has an 8-megapixel camera that bears the Carl Zeiss branding. The camera software is straightforward and fast, with little shutter lag. Although the colors of the photos are less saturated, its quality is acceptable for a cell phone.

Retailing at 2,900-3,100 yuan (US$460.3-492.1) in China, the device is available in black, cyan and magenta.

Although the 3.3-inch display is small, the FWVGA resolution screen with a 297ppi and Mobile Bravia Engine bring outstanding visual effects. The Xperia also ray supports WLAN, 3.5G network, GPS navigation and Bluetooth functions.

The handset features an 8.1-megapixel camera with a Sony Exmor R sensor and an LED photo light found on the back, which can produce satisfactory pictures, even in low light. There's also a front-facing VGA camera for videoconferencing. Located on the back of the ray is a second microphone for the noise-canceling feature.

It is equipped with a faster 1.4GHz Qualcomm single-core processor and Adreno 205 image processing chip, providing 512MB RAM and 1GB ROM. It features a large 4.2-inch display with a FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) resolution and Android2.3.4 OS, supporting the WCDMA/HSDPA high-speed network and Wi-Fi.

Like the Xperia ray, the handset also features an 8.1-megapixel camera with Sony Exmor R sensor and an LED photo light. The company has also added the ability to take panoramic and 3D (stereoscopic) images by panning the phone.

To cater to various tastes, the device comes in five colors: white, midnight blue, pink, misty silver and black. The price runs between 2,300 and 2,400 yuan ((US$365.1-381) in the Chinese market.

Samsung Galaxy W (i8150)

If you wish to own a light and handy smartphone with good functions, the new Samsung Galaxy W (i8150) could be a good choice. As part of the W range, the Galaxy W features performance mixed with smart design.

The smartphone has a 3.7-inch display with a WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) resolution. It supports multi-touch and produces clear and bright display effects. Claiming to be the fastest among the devices of the similar prices, the Galaxy W is installed with Android 2.3.5 OS, TouchWiz 4.0 interface, 1.4GHz MSM8255T processor, 512MB RAM and 4GB storage, and supports 14.4Mbps HSPA high-speed network.

Galaxy W features a built-in FM radio, which is something you don't see often on higher-end smartphones. BlackBerry Bold 9900

The Bold 9900 is the flagship offering of Research in Motion (RIM)’s BlackBerry line. The latest operating system and hardware configurations make the Bold 9900 a great smartphone for business types and hardcore fans.

At only 10.5mm thick, the phone claims to be the thinnest BlackBerry phone ever made. It has a nice heft to it, and feels sturdy and well-built, at a weight of around 130g.

It is also the first Bold with a touch screen display, although it has to make way for the QWERTY keyboard, which makes the display a tiny 2.8 inches.

For smoother operation, the Bold 9900 is equipped with 1.2G Hz processor, and 768 MB RAM and 8GB ROM storage. In terms of connectivity, there is full suite of options to choose from: Bluetooth 2.2, Wi-Fi, GPS, HSPA and near-field communications (NFC)—a first for any BlackBerry device. Its download speed can reach up to 14.4Mbps and upload speed is up to 5.76Mbps.

The handset comes with a 5-megapixel camera, which also supports 720p HD video recording. It has received a network access license in China and is expected to be on the Chinese market soon.

Samsung Galaxy S II (i9100)

Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830)

As a new member of Samsun Galaxy family, the Galaxy Ace is a popular entry-level Android device. Its simple design and good performance make it an excellent choice for those who want a full smartphone experience but are on a limited budget.

The phone is equipped with 800MHz MSM 7227 processor and Android 2.2 system, and has a touch screen which supports HVGA resolution and multi-touch. The touch experience is quite impressive.

Although it has only 160MB of internal memory, a microSD card slot makes it possible to expand the storage with a memory card up to a maximum of 32GB. It supports HSDPA and Wi-Fi for Internet connectivity, and it has Bluetooth and even GPS for satellite navigation. A 5-megapixel camera is installed.

The handset comes in two colors: black and white. Including a battery, a charger, a pair of stereo earphones and a USB cable, the phone sells for about 1,900-2,100 yuan (US$301.6-333.3) in the Chinese market.

Apple iPhone 4S

The iPhone 4S design is nearly unchanged from the iPhone 4, however, due to the greatly improved hardware and software functions, it has attracted many customers. Its screen has remained at 3.5 inches since the first edition appeared in 2007, although a larger display is expected in the next iPhone version to be released later this year.

The handset is equipped with Apple's new A5 processor, which is the first smartphone to use a dual-core processor and dual-core display chip, 7 times faster than before. The latest iOS 5 operation system has updates and improvements in over 200 functions. The iCloud service allows the users to save their information on the server side and can access it through all their iOS 5 devices.

The 8-megapixel camera offers autofocus, flash, a f/2.4 aperture lens, and a backside-illuminated CMOS sensor that allows 73 percent more light than the previous sensor and should deliver better low-light performance. The camera has better auto white balance and claims to be 33 percent faster than the iPhone 4's camera. Videos also get a boost with the ability to shoot 1080p HD video clips at 30 frames per second and with video stabilization.

The feature that Apple is touting most for iPhone4S is the new voice assistant Siri, which allows users to operate the phone by voice control. The phone supports both GSM and CDMA networks, and can roam worldwide.

The handset is available in four storage versions: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. The price is 4,988 yuan (US$791.7) in China for the 16GB version.

Samsung Galaxy Note (N7000)

Classified somewhere between a smartphone and Tablet PC, the Galaxy Note is of the current sales champion in the Asian market.

The most impressive feature of the Galaxy Note is its huge 5.3-inch Gorilla Glass display, which supports the 1,280 x 800 pixel (WXGA) resolution. It's the first Android phone that has a higher resolution than the iPhone 4S.

For faster operation speed, the phone is equipped with a dual-core 1.4GHz processor, and provides 1GB RAM and two levels of storage: 16GB or 32GB. Its Android2.3.5 operation system supports the HSPA+ network with a speed up to 21Mbps. The 9.65 mm-thick phone also comes with a wide range of options you would expect from a high-end device — Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and FM Radio.

There's a 2-megapixel front camera and an 8-megapixel rear camera with a bright LED flash, autofocus and HD 1080p video recording capabilities. A special S Pen stylus and a long-lasting battery are also included with the phone.

The price of the handset is about 4,500 yuan (US$7,142.6) in China.
